Biznet Solutions Sponsor Tour of Ards
Tuesday 19 April 2005
Biznet Solutions recently lent their support to the Ards Cycling Club Tour of Ards 2005. The sponsorship significantly boosts the prize pot for this classic race. The Biznet team also got typically "hands on" at the race, with the Biznet Beetles acting as pace and support cars on the day.
Mark Greer (Maryland Wheelers) scored the biggest win of his career to date when he soloed home to win the prestigious Biznet Solutions Tour of the Ards. The 36-year-old Lisburn rider was part of a 7-strong break which escaped the main field of 70 riders approaching Portaferry after some 30 miles of racing.
Greer, a stage winner in last week's Tour of the North, time trialled along the coast road and managed to hold off the chasers with young Martyn Irvine of the promoting club Ards CC finishing second just 35 seconds down.
Roe Valley's Brendan O'Brien won the 3-up sprint for third place ahead of Jim McConnell (Audi-East Antrim) and last year's victor Tommy Evans (Planet X).
Adrian Bradley, Director of Biznet Solutions, is a keen cyclist " We are extremely excited to be supporting Ards Cycle Club with this event and look forward to helping out next year."
The Biznet sponsorship gives new life to this well established road race which was first held in 1969 in memory of Tommy Brown.
