Biznet Contribute To Young Sailor’s Successes
Tuesday 25 April 2006 Success StoriesBarry got the season off to a great start by winning the 2006 Munster Championships in Baltimore, Co Cork over the Easter weekend, in his boat “Biznet Solutions”.The first major event of the new season, it was sailed in light winds on the Saturday and a brisk force 3-4 breeze on the Sunday. Barry won both races in the reduced Saturday programme, and also won the 2nd and 3rd races on Sunday.
Biznet Solutions of Belfast have backed Barry both last year and this, and their fantastic donation of a brand new Laser 4.7 for his 2006 campaign has enabled him to sail with the best equipment available. Lasers are the biggest adult and youth sailing class in the world.
Barry’s success in competitive sailing is already highly impressive. From 2005, he already is Ulster and Irish Laser 4.7 champion, and came 6th in the UK Laser 4.7 national championships. In addition, he is also currently Ulster, Leinster, and Irish champion in the Topper class, and came 5th in the 2005 Topper European championships.
Adrian Bradley, Joint Managing Director of Biznet Solutions says, “We were delighted last year to make a contribution to Barry’s travel expenses. By providing a brand new boat this year, he has a real chance of being the first sailor to achieve a clean sweep of all the major Irish provincial and national events in 2006, to have a real chance of winning a Laser title at the UK nationals, and anything he achieves at the world championship is a bonus. We will be providing a tracking facility on our own website on his progress.”
As further endorsement of Barry as an athlete to sponsor, he has just been taken into the development team of a major UK high-performance sailing clothing and accessories company, and a shipping company is also putting together a package to assist with travel costs to the world championships in Bordeaux in France this June.
Adrian from Biznet added, “We are a successful company in a vibrant industry, who wanted to support a young athlete in a physically and mentally challenging sport, which crosses age, gender and social boundaries - Barry has greatly surpassed our expectations in the first year of our relationship. We have considerably expanded our support for him in 2006 by purchasing a new Laser to help him in his Irish, UK, and Europeans/Worlds campaigns. I am looking forward to seeing the Biznet name associated with even more success in the future.”
