Project Background

Biznet Solutions won a competitive tender to undertake the redesign and redevelopment of the Fermanagh Council website ensuring that the site met the electronic information requirements of the Council and site user groups alike.

Now the site is dynamic, easy to navigate and informative, employing a range of interactive features and the latest database technologies which facilitate the easy updating of key areas of the website and also the facility to securely pay for council bills and purchase council items via the site.

The site was redeveloped to act as a strategic and marketing communication tool for the Councils future activities. The design of site facilitates ease of navigation and cross platform compatibility. Biznet's Fingerprint Content Management Software is incorporated into the website to facilitate the free flow of information to tourists within the Fermanagh region.

Other features include tailored online Feedback Forms, which facilitate visitor online support and inquiries.
Individual sets of Council pages are provided for each information section of the site to enable the interested visitor to find, and where appropriate update, relevant information quickly and easily.

Relevant links are established to external websites. Designated users are able to update all areas of the site via the fingerprint content management system.

It was the responsibility of Biznet Solutions to manage and direct this project in conjunction with FDC Website user group from the outset. Biznet planned the entire strategy and made recommendations and put forward solutions to ensure this website is the forefront of E-government in N.Ireland.

Biznet are currently planning Phase 3 implementation for this site.

Fermanagh.gov.uk was recognised in the Socitm Report 2004 as being the top local council website in the Northern Ireland district and was the second most improved site in the period (2003-2004) in the UK.
